The vampire diaries show has been better than I expected, when I heard that they were making it, I searched for the book series by L.J. Smith, and read it, decided it was a pile of crap, the books are short stories, and they've changed A LOT to make the show much better, so I like it, as the acting is quite good.
True Blood is up there as one of the best vampire shows ever, should also note its based upon a series of books by charlaine harris - the sookie stackhouse series, I've read all of them as well, decent books, Eric is my fav. character both in the tv series and the books.
I rather liked the tv series moonlight, it didn't last very long unfortunately.
I think Gemma, your talking about "Forever Knight" I think?. It was bleh, nothing special.
Your missing "Blood Ties", it was OK, lasted a couple seasons only.
A show about magic, not a vampire show, although there were vampires in it on an episode or two, which was produced by nicolas cage was "The Dresden files". I was soooo sad to see this show not be renewed for a second season. It was simply great.
When I was a kid there was a Canadian tv series called "the little vampire" yes, just like the dumb movie from 2000, I think that really got me addicted to vampires as a kid. Thinking back on it, the show itself wasn't very good LOL.
There was an 8 episode tv series about vampires called "Kindred : the embraced", which was based upon the games "Vampire: the masquerade", the show was an interesting take on the video game, but if you watch the series, you'll see why it failed to last. But its definitely a game you should check out.
A MUST see vampire movie is the swedish movie "Let the right one in", they're re-making it in the states, it was amazing, I tried to read the novel, but it was a bit too graphic, I don't suggest reading it to be honest, but definitely see the movie. Another one is "Vampire Diary", not the new tv series, its an english film, it has Anna Walton in it (she played princess Nuala in hellboy 2). it starts off slow and is a documentary type feel to it, but it grows into an excellent film (note that it is an adult only film).
But thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
