I see others with different colors in their houses. How is that done?

Changing the theme colors of your home is done through the Remodel function. I'm not sure that "remodel" is working for everyone (see this post more info), but that is how it is done.

Remodelling doesn;t work here. However, I'd like to request home items like lawn pieces, wooden tiles for the ground, or concrete ground. Marble? Chess texture? Nice!
