Hello, I've been playing City of Eternals for a few days on facebook when I accidently deleted it while cleaning up in my application, only to realize and add it 1 min after again, but now whenever I try to log into the game past missions, I get this message:

experienced an error!
Why are we in maintenance mode?

* We are making some awesome updates to keep the servers running smooth and happily.
* Here's a distraction while you wait: Re: Your Brains.
* Here's another: A Monkey washing a cat.

- at first I thought there was some maintance, but then my boyfriend logged in on his computer without any problems.
I guess it's something with facebook, but I hope maybe you've encountered this problem before and know what to do. - so far I've tried clearing my cache, inspect application settings to find some enable or possible block, deleting and adding the application again on facebook. - after a while I started searching for forums and tried to play from here, but it seems to have issues still as my friendslist doesnt load!
I wouldn't mind starting my character again since it was only a few hours of play, if I could atleast get the application running smoothly again as I was enjoying the game alot

One more thing, I've just tried to log into the game on my boyfriend facebook profile on my computer, and had no issues, - but I still get the error on my own profile!

Could you be more specific when you say "cleaning up my application"...I'm not quite sure what you mean, could you please explain the entire process of how you "accidentally deleted your application" and added it back. If please take screenshots of the entire process and post them in a reply if my suggestions do not work, and include the information in the Connection Issue Report Template. Try to also include which flash version or shockwave version you use.
Here is how to take a post screenshots, if need be, post each step of how you deleted the application and installed it again, with explanations along with it. (I think I know what you mean, but I want to make sure, and it will help me, or someone else help you) A good example of the screenshots and explanations I'm talking about can be found here with my Facebook Lists Tutorial.

Also, which browser are you using, IE, Firefox, Google Chrome (I recommend chrome if you can use it.) Also, what is your OS?, Try changing browsers if your using IE, switch to chrome (doubt it'll work but its something to try). AND try to include a screenshot of the Error you get if none of the following methods help you:

1.
Do you play THROUGH facebook, or the main site.
Here are the three sites/things to try:
Play through facebook small window --- go to any of the missions and "Start Mission!"

2.
Coe Main Site Full Screen Window
--Open your Browser, log into facebook FIRST, then open a new tab while logged into facebook still, and go here and click "connect with facebook", this helps stop some loading errors I've noticed if you log into facebook first.

3.
If you don't already, add the original Vampires application to facebook, and try loading CoE through the Vampires Facebook App. Once this is loaded and you start playing it, at the top left you'll see "My CoE Vampire" click it or click the circled "City of Eternals" link as seen here:




I hope this helps, post ASAP if it does, or doesn't along with the information I asked for, and hopefully we'll be able to figure something out, or another player will, or possibly an Ohai employee later today.

I'll try to explain as best I can

I use Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3
Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2
I don't know what OS means unfortunadly.

I've been on facebook for a few years now and had cluttered up on alot of applications and wanted to delete some of those I never used, by mistake I misclicked on City of Eternals during this, by clicking on the button that removes the applications access to my page, - right away I searched for the application again and added it like I did the first time ( allowing it access again ), but now I get this error instead when I try to play:

as I said I tried clearing my cache, deleting and adding the application a third and forth time, then I found this forum and figured out I can log into the game from here and play, but the information and friendslist from facebook doesn't load nomatter how many times I retry. - I also tried logging on my boyfriends facebook profile and log into his game wich works perfectly fine on my browser still!

I do play it through facebook like an application, but I tried accessing it the ways you suggested and added the original application aswell, but I get same issue!
I suspect it's some sort of block from facebook on my profile since I can play it fine on another profile in the same browser!

wow, I've never tried to play on an application i've deleted.... note to self to not delete vampires.

sounds like a facebook issue to me. So even when you play on the main site you have to have the application installed.

Do you play through vampires? maybe you could try installing Slayer, or werewolf or zombie. I know originally they were all separate applications. I usually play on vampire, but yesterday I was a slayer and it had me do the tutorial all over again. So I assume they are still different applications, which might help you. Unless you deleted all 4 of them... or they made it all one applications recently...

Try adding the Vampires game on facebook, see if that helps. And OS = Operating System, like Windows XP, or Vista , or 7.

I Removed the application, then went to the main site to play, logged in and it worked fine, I went back to facebook and the app. was re-added.

I removed the application 2 ways, are you sure you have not "Blocked" the app?
Go to the City of Eternals Facebook Group. Look at the left column and see if you have REMOVED & BLOCKED the CoE app. If so, unblock it, and add the app.

If this isn't the issue, I'm fresh out of ideas, hopefully Matt will come to the rescue.

I definetly haven't blocked the application, and how rude that it only happens to me hehe. - maybe I need to talk to facebook support instead since it's probably not a problem with the game!
- but I'm still hoping someone has the magic answer

I've just tried the suggestion to delete the application and connect from this forum - it does indeed place the application on my facebook again, but when I try to play it there it gives me the same error again, - and still doesnt update friendslist. -
I then tried to block the application and try to play and SURPRISE I could now enter the game from facebook but still the friendslist problem, - when unblocking the application again it comes back with the same error :p confusing stuff!

Gee wiz, the most important thing is that you are able to play. The friends list probably has to do with FB connect... but then what do I know

You can play the game when you block the application ? haha.. sounds like facebook bug. (or a bug in how the game connects to FB)... glad it is somewhat working
